I find it very difficult to keep my legs and feet warm so with the chilly weather even in summer my legs from the knee down are freezing and I have to have a hot bath to warm them up is there any way I can keep my legs warm that doesnt involve everything getting wet. Tried waterproof trousers but they made my legs wet with sweat so were colder than ever. Preferably on a budget as the family income is very low and the horses are first priority
 
Not sure about summer, but in winter I swear my either M and S heat gen or Uniqlo Heat tec thermals. Really thin but really warm, thin enough to wear under jods. Never tried the socks though
 
Thermals, wool socks and sheepskin insoles.


Luckily I now live in New Zealand where winters are short and not very cold.
Currently 2C moving up to 13C today.

Never ever will I experience an English winter again :D
 
Also a good body warmer really helps keep the whole of you warm. It doesn't have to be an expensive one - Tescos do some good men's ones which are lovely and light but still nice and thick. They come in a wide range of sizes and are great value.

Tights or ski thermals under jods. Thin socks and then I usually have knee high socks on and muck boots. I always tuck my top into my knickers and jods though, to stop cold air creeping down. If you can get a coat that covers your bum, that will help to keep your legs warm too.
 
I live in Canada where we get 6 months of snow on the ground and temps of -25 for most of it. Last year my sister in the UK sent me some fleece-lined tights from Primark which are super cheap and AMAZING. I put wear them under my jods with a second pair of socks and waterproof trousers and I am toasty warm. A high-fat snack before I go put helps too, sounds weird but a chunk if cheese will do wonders for your metabolism. Plus it's a good excuse to stuff your face!
 
Under your jods you could wear some tights or thermal leggings and feet tends to be socks and lots of them for me - especially ski socks. :) What may work but I haven't tried is those waterproof ride on chaps. :)
 
Hope you're warm! Think the most important garments are good boots and gloves. Can be cheap on the rest of the gear, but your extremities need love. Well, mine do, Raynauds thing kills me otherwise. A fleece for neck area is good, too.
 
Until I ask my friend again on Sat, here's my unhelpful tip....there are these thingys and when you snap them as you would an ice-pack/glowstick they heat up and you can apparently pop them in your boots/socks/gloves for a heat boost. Once used, you do something to them and then can re-use. You can get them in stores that I've forgotten the names of. Glad I could be so specific.... :D
 
On a wee aside note, you have been checked out for circulation or diabetes issues right?

Poor circulation can often result in cold extremities in summer months.

Aren't these heat packs? They have a metal disc in that sets a reaction- they heat and go solid, and then you boil them so you can reuse them.

Total forgot about these!! We used to use them at school because out crazy teachers made us stay outside even in the coldest winters at lunch time!!

SUCH a good idea though! However you want a layer between them and you, or it'll burn (especially if its freezing out!)

The cold here is arctic, so I've learned a thing or two!

-Avoid using rubber enclosed footwear, like faux leather riding boots or muckers with a rubber outer.
-Good thermals make a massive difference and wick sweat away, I like joggers tights.
-Make sure you're wearing enough layers on the rest of your body, slightly more than you might think you need! Many people make the mistake of putting on tights and 3 pairs of socks and winter boots on their lower body, then throw on a light quilted jacket on their torso. If your body thinks your torso is even just a little bit cold it'll draw blood from your feet and then you'll have cold bloodless feet regardless of how many layers you put on them. Your whole body has to be equally well covered if you want warm hands and feet :)
