I have some post n rail with rabbit fencing to keep dogs out and want some advice in how to stop incessant weeds growing through and up the rabbit fencing. The problem is strimmers and lawn mowers can't get close enough.

I am fighting a losing battle and I'm wondering if shingle or bark or similar would stop them growing so close to the fence.

Anyone else managed to keep a horse yard tidy in the spring / summer.

I have tried that but not too effective as I still have to pull loads of dead weeds out. Hoping for a more permanent solution tbh.

If you can pull out the weeds around your posts (initially) and spray out any grass, you can then put down weed barrier material around the posts and under the fenceline if needed, then pin down the material with metal U shaped pins designed for the purpose and cover with wood chip, bark or pea gravel. Voila!!! I have learned a LOT since moving to the States where I continue to have my horses 'on track'.

I use Clinic - its cheaper than Roundup, and does a great job. Its 20ml/litre water. I use it round the yard, menage, around trees and find 2 treatments per spring/summer do the trick.
