My horse has been poorly for 3-4 months with inflammation in his guts. During this time he dropped a little weigh but it was easy put back on once we had the inflammation under control. He is now allowed back into work and has been doing 1 hr walking 5-6 days a week for last 2-3 weeks. During this time he his guts played up and he dropped a little weight.
He is currently fed 1 stubb scoop of chaff and 1/2 stubb scoop of conditioning cubes twice a day. I upped his feed to this once he was brought back into work. Only thing is that is isnt putting on any weight. You can currently just see his ribs when you look at him and with the time of year I really dont want him to drop anymore weight. He is currently out 24/7 and rugged up.
Have you guys any idea of what best to do to keep weight on him? I dont know if he losing weight due to amount of work he is doing, if its due to his gut problem or if he getting cold. Should I be talking to my vet?
