keeping whites clean under fetlock !!

hi. one of our welsh cobs only has whites that reach justunder the fetlock and no further so regular bandages do not work as they dont cover any of the whites. i have an idea but dont know if it would be affective. has anyone tried using over reach boots all round and maybe lightely bandaging the pastern, coronet area? would this work and would there be any problems e.g slipping down/off or obstructing joint movement? thank you.

I have seen horses with overreach boots on all round but that's usually on a sponsored ride , i think the back ones were to stop other horses treading on heels.

Are you just trying to keep them clean??

on way to show

I don't understand what you want
if its just during transport then prob a bandage like stable bandage from knee to fetlocks

or take a bucket and water give them a last wash before show class remove any poo from traveling

or try overeach boots but i think some of the white will show above the boot.


try vaseline so wont stain then again wash when you get there

i think the bandaging boot be my first try

just trying to keep the whites clean while travelling and over night at the show. the over reach boot is to keep the heel area clean because they are impossible to cover with bandages and he is a fussy bugger with travelling boots. thanks for the advice. i'l just have to bandage above fetlock and down pastern and use over reach boots and then wash on day and re apply before class.

I sympathise fully having a dales with white feather below the fetlock. What I do is bath the night before then chalk the feathers. I then bandage as far down as possible then use Shire's material poltice boots aswell. So far this combination has kept him clean. Nice clean fresh bedding down in the stable helps aswell.

i've had no problems leaving them on overnight then travelling in them and taking them off at the show the bottom hoof bit is like leather so has a decent grip for them to walk round in without slipping. My lad has never bothered about leaving them on him. these are the type of boots I mean

ah right ok thank you. bit stretched for time to buy them, but i think the bandages and over reach boots should have a similar effect lol! thanks for your help.its for the royal welsh show on monday! want him looking extra clean lol x
