Keeping your body protector clean and odour free

Following on from the what to wear thread what does everyone do to stop their bps getting smelly? I cant see there are any instructions on my racesafe and dont want to ruin it

Definitely always wear a layer (no matter how thin) underneath to absorb excess sweat. Get into the habit of hanging it up on a hanger as soon as you've removed it so even if its only hanging in the tack room it gets some air circulation.

I don't think an occassional squirt of fabreeze-type fabric freshener (on the inside) does any harm either as long as you hang up afterwards!

You can sponge clean a body protector, or like me, against the manufacturer's suggestion, remove the cover, hand wash it then replace the insides where they were ( I have aerowear). Didn't remove the hairs though...
Also regular febreeze helps, and shoving ot I'm an ill-frequented cupboard.

Jumping on this thread as my Outlyne stinks, and I have taken the cover off and hand washed it, both in hand wash stuff and also in a Dettol based wash stuff that is meant for stinky clothes. I have also sprayed with Fabreeze.

It smells OK until it gets hot then the old wiff comes back.

And no, I am not especially stinky in a day to day way!
