Hi newbie here, my friend has a 4 month old lab pup and she will be going on holiday for 4 days. She is new to dog ownership and needs some advice. The options are to put the pup in a local kennel or use a dog sitting service.

Would the breeders be willing to have it back on holiday? If we've ever bred a litter we always offer to have them back at any time if the owners need to go away; we've had some back regularly over 15 years and it's always lovely to see them.
Failing that, do they not have a friend/relative/neighbour that the pup knows who would be willing to have it as it's such a short time? I would be very wary of using boarding kennels, at that age they can pick up so many things even if the kennels appear spotless and a sickly young puppy will not be what they want on their return!

I would always try use a homeboarding/dog sitting service if I could as it would be MUCH nicer for the dog.

try www.k9capers.com they have franchises throughout the UK that specialise in dog sitting/homeboarding etc.

Hope she finds somewhere for her pup. x

I'd say what everyone else has, find a homeboarding service or someone pup knows to look after pup.

Failing that could pup not go with them? Unless I'm going abroad which doesn't happen a lot, I take all 5 of mine with me.

if you can find a good kennels the pup would be fine, but its very dificult to find good ones here in taunton there is only one i would recommend out of a few surrounding taunton and somerset.
