I just checked Scout’s name on the KC site and I see he has lost his breeder’s affix. (If that’s the correct term). I know his breeder was not in good health but I didn’t realise that if you don’t renew your name they get dropped. If that is what has happened? .
So it might motivate me to attach him to my kennel name so he becomes Scout of … . But actually his registered name is really awful. I see, while looking at forms, I could change it ( I think).

That certainly didn’t use to happen. My affix wasn’t renewed but the dogs names didn’t change . Was he definitely registered with the breeders affix ? You can add your name to his kc name but can’t otherwise change it .

That doesn’t happen Any dogs registered with the breeders prefix retain that regardless of whether it is renewed or not….

Well it’s weird as I looked at him about a month ago and he had 2 names, today only one!

Ah! Good point, maybe just a glitch. Yes it was a single word. I’ll go look again….
If I put his proper name in it comes up, then if I click on it he loses the breeders name. Bizarre. The KC are hard up, you know, IT is a struggle.

They are an absolute shower They didn't manage to register the Giant Moose Pup until she was 16 weeks old and only then at the intervention of a foreign KC, it was just embarassing.

Have you compared what appears on the KC health checker thingy vs how he appears on your MyKC?

He’s not on my KC at all. I will do battle with them later in the week.

Whoever came up with his official name needed a good talking to! I struggle with remembering Scout and keep wanting to call him Scooter

I would say that this is the most probable explanation

Tbh KC have been using this excuse for years . They are useless , and have just been granted Royal status so will probably be even worse !

You need the breeders permission to change names and has to be done within 3 months of first registration I think. You can add your own affix but not a prefix. I think it's £17

It’s not quite so essential now that he’s got 2 names again.
