So our dog, Kerry blue terrier bitch 10 years old, had seemed a little under the weather for a couple of days had a bit of a cough/choke when she was barking but not at any other time. Friday evening she woke up from a sleep with her thurs eyelid covering part of her right eye so I took her to the vets Saturday morning and they said she had a cough and that the eye could be related to this (upper respiratory infection). We have been given anti inflammatory medicine and eyedrops but over the weekend had become listless and stopped eating and not really drinking.

So back to the vets this morning and this vet thinks she has kennel cough, my dog does not mix at all with other dogs but understand it could be airborne. this vet doesn't think the eye is related to the cough which is worrying me as it looks awful, but has given antibiotics and more eyedrops.

Has anyone had a similar problem before? and especially with the eye being how it is.

I don't really know, but as no one better is along...I believe the third eyelid can droop when the dog is run down or poorly, which would equate to being ill with something unconnected.

I understand the same as Clodagh about the third eyelid, when the dog is run down/off colour. I hope she responds well to the anti-biotics and gets over the cough quickly.

Good news. They like to worry us.
I think my vets think I have Munchausens by Proxy!

Yes I know what you mean, I was at the vets Saturday and then back on their door first thing Monday morning waiting for them to open, told them how ill she was and how worried I was because she wasn't eating or drinking and had slept solidly all day and night for her then to start trying to play!!
