Hi all,

I have a couple of questions:

1) Does anyone continue to have kennel cough vaccines?

I am unsure if I need it as my dog doesn't go to kennels, doggy day care or use a dog walker. However, I live in a city and there are a lot of dogs here so I think there is potential exposure on her walks due to this. My vet doesn't push for this and says it is up to me if I want this vaccine or not.

2) Does anyone vaccicheck for the DHP vaccine ( every 3 years) for antibodies? ( I know it's not a perfect test)

Thank you

I don't titre test as I want the options for them to go into kennels should they need to and none I would use locally accept titre tests. I do personally kennel cough vaccinate, I do team dog sports and ot regularly does the rounds so want to be as safe as possible.

Mine both had kennel cough as youngsters. One was vaccinated one wasn't. My vet said in the past there are so many strains of KC that they can still catch it. Mine go to kennels but are not vaccinated. The kennel does not insist as they never mix dogs at all and their hygiene between "guests" using kennels should ensure nothing is passed on. Mine have never caught anything there and I am very happy with them. My two share a kennel but have no contact at all with other dogs whilst there.

I have only had one experience of the kennel cough vaccination.

A family members dog got given it. We were living together at the time. She came home from the vets and gave my elderly bitch kennel cough 😏
