Kennel cough?

Hi guys :)

Betsy dog currently sounds like the snottiest dog in the world. No coughing but she does sound 'full of cold'.

She is happy in herself and is weeing, pooping and eating normally.

The 'snottyness' has only been apparent since last night but a couple of weeks ago I was informed that a case of kennel cough was spotted at the kennels she goes to during the day (my work). I know the girls there have kept an eye on all of the dogs and would have let me know if she was showing symptoms / if anyone she shared with was.

She of course could have picked this up anywhere else, if it is kennel cough??

Does this sound like kennel cough? Can I take her to the vet or will she be too contagious? Is there anything I can give her to help?

I'm such a worried mother! Will be calling the vet this afternoon, they are in surgery now.
 
ours have both recently caught kennel cough from the fields we walk them around we took them to the vet and one is on antibiotics and the other who only has it mildly is on a kids cough medician i would go to the vets just to check :)
 
It could possibly be kennel cough. Trouble is, a dog could have it and show no symptoms for two weeks so you may have encountered a dog that was carrying it but not coughing! Plus it's airborne so it can be very hard to contain.

In my experience, it can vary from a slight cough in the morning to a full blown doggie flu - horrible nasty cough, snotty nose and high temperature. If your dog is fine in itself I would keep an eye on her. Is the discharge from her nose clear? Or green and gunky, (sign of an infection)? If she does start coughing she will need to stay at home as legally you cannot take a dog out with a contagious disease.

We usually gave dogs with kennel cough lemon and glycerin cough syrup through a syringe to help :) Of course if in doubt, pop her down to the vets.
 
Thanks guys, I spoke to the vet earlier and he wasn't overly concerned. If she gets any worse I will take her in of course.

The snottiness had completely gone by 11, I have only seen a tiny tiny amount of discharge and it was completely clear. She is her normal self now.
