In two weeks im having to leave Alf, my boxer in kennels whilst im on holiday. He is 4 yrs old and hasnt been kenneled before. I was wondering whether anyone could answer a few questions for me please? All vacs etc are up to date but i was going to worm him. Should i worm after or before he goes in and if before how long before? Also am i best de fleaing before or after?
Im so worried about him as hes quite a timid dog and am worried hell
Be overwelmed :-( am i best taking his own bedding and is there anything else i can do/ take to make his stay there less traumatic?

Thanks

I would put him for one night before leaving him there for longer - even see if they will let you leave him for a few hours so he knows you are coming back. Great they let you take your own bedding not all will do that. Will they feed him his usual feed? If not then take your own feed to save stomach upsets. I'd worm before taking him.

What do you use to de flea? If it's a drop on the neck thing then I'd do it as usual as it will last through his stay.

Does the kennels walk them? That would be my most important concern re his stay as manys ay they get 'exercise in a run' which tends to involve dog being put in run whilst their kennel is cleaned, dog stands around, then goes back into kennel!

Hi yes they get walked and they have a field where they take them to play with obstacles and they take them on an extension lead. He is fed raw and they will allow me to bring his food for a week so that wont change. Yes will try a night before i go. I use the flea stuff on the neck. Thankyou
