We moved our spaniels from crates in the house out to secure kennels in April. They have insulated cabins (inc raised beds with vet bed) and covered outdoor areas (raised beds with mesh covers). We've got some thermometers in the cabins to monitor temperatures. We have had electric installed so have lights and a power source to add heaters. We are looking to use the tubular garden heaters. We don't want the cabin to be hot, but we do want the dogs to be comfortable.

My question is what is a suitable temperature for their cabins in winter?

:)

Do they really need heating ?

They wouldn't die without it, but it is nicer, especially if they are formerly house dogs. It also prolongs their working life, if you want to sound callous!

A friend has hers heated to 17, so similar to what PP says. That's warmer than my house :p:D

It’s warmer than the downstairs of our house too! At the moment, with heating on, we’re lucky if it gets above 14 degrees.
