I had a brand new Kent and masters saddle fitted by reputable saddler in April, had it checked by same saddler 5 weeks ago and told its fine. I wasn't convinced so got second opinion from another reputable saddler and was told it's bridging. Would u take it back to original saddler? I've just reluctantly put it on ebay for £200 less than I paid for it only 5 months ago and it's in great condition :(

Don't sell it on eBay! Second hand ones still make about £575! And def go back to the original saddler, they have a duty to sort it out and if it is wrong you may be able to get your money back. Approach it in the right way tho, explain you had another saddlers opinion etc and see if they will come out (for free) to assess it. Saddles are expensive, it's their duty as a qualified saddler (I'm assuming they are qualified) to fit one the is comfortable for horse and rider and fit for it's purpose.

Contacted them and they'll only try to sell it for me and take a commission and they reckon I'd be lucky to get £400 for it so its on eBay at £300 reluctantly, one bid so far... :(

Go back to them and insist they must sort out the issue as they are having you on! They must at least come out to check the saddle, if they sold it, it is down to them if it is unfit for purpose. Have a look at the Sale of Goods Act and you can always quote it to them to remind them of their obligation.

I have to differ a little - two things: if you'd had it checked by the other saddle 6 months ago then I'd definitely say go back to the saddle fitter who fitted it. However, just because fitter number 1 says it still fits, and fitter number 2 says it doesn't, it's too late to get a refund - the saddle is used and you have no proof that it didn't fit when you bought it.

I will also say that some fitter judge saddle fit much more on a static back than on a moving back - nearly all horses lift and flatten their backs when moving (trot especially) and saddles need to have a tiny bit of room under the middle of them to allow for that. If you fit a saddle to a static back it will lolely be too cuvred and will rock in rising trot. I have only seen our saddle bridge when they are too narrow, and I fit only pretty flat trees.

If the saddler can flock saddles ask him to build up the centre with some flocking or thorowgood sell fillers that can be placed between the panel and underside of the tree which I can get hold of for you just visit my website for contact details
