Hi, I have a newly backed highland pony and have been trying to get a Kent and masters gp cob saddle for weeks with no joy. Had him fitted for one and saddler had one due in but it has still not appeared. Need a 17.5 and wanted Havana as my bridle is Havana and believe it would be a better colour for showing. I could get a black one. Saddlers/stockists are unable to give me any definite timescales and I have tried several. Just got pony home on Friday and want to get going on him. How long would you wait before going for something else? Anyone aware of any problems with Havana Kent and masters saddles? I can long line him etc in the meantime but don't want to leave him too long without being ridden.

I waited quite a few weeks for mine but was lucky enough to have a saddle that the saddler checked for me that I could borrow during the waiting period. I can understand your frustration with newly backed chap, does your saddler not have something they can lend you in the meantime?

I have a 17" havanna cob gp one for sale. There was a lot of interest on Ebay but the winning bidder hasn't paid so I have to advertise it again. Going by the number of watchers and bidders the cob saddles seem to be in demand.

Thanks for replies. Yes they seem to be very popular. Saddler hasn't offered one on loan although I haven't asked. Have thought about getting a second hand Thorowgood but there doesn't seem to be any for sale locally and knowing my luck the saddle would turn up a few days later! OH doesn't understand the fuss and thinks I should just get a black one.

I have a Kent and Masters on order through my saddler, I was quoted 5-7 weeks as being the norm for delivery. It is a dressage saddle and I have my GP so am happy to wait but I understand your frustration, how long has it been?

Dorchester Saddlery says it has one in stock on their website. Don't know how true that is though, might be worth giving them a ring tomorrow.

Saddle has been on order since mid May.

Thanks cobgoblin. I noticed that and called them the other week but they said they didn't have one in stock.

Been waiting 12 weeks for my K&M Compact and that's in black. Would have to have waited longer for one in havana. My saddler is pulling his hair out at the moment with all the saddle makers at the moment.

You are making me think I should just go for the black one! We can be mismatched for a while.

That was my thinking too. I'm not overly keen on black tack, but am desperate for a well fitting saddle for my mare. Gives me a chance to buy new stuff to match though...

I now have an estimated delivery of a week today for the Havana saddle. This will mean he will have 2 weeks off after being away for backing/schooling. Is such a long holiday after backing likely to be a problem? Alternatively I can pick up a black saddle now. Many thanks.
