Hello, so after a long wait mum picked up my new Kent and master V-s jump saddle from local saddler this morning.

Now the saddle has clearly be tryed before, and although the girth straps have relatively little wear the leather, in places, on the rest of the saddle is almost as if the coating has come off? The wear is mainly under the saddle flaps and a little where your legs would be.

Never seen a saddle wear quite like it before and wondering if this is normal or wether I should try and swap it? Haven't paid for saddle yet on a two week trial would appreciate opinions.

Apoligize photos aren't great quality.

Crikey - mine doesn't look like that - and we've had it for over two years. I'd defo talk to your saddler.

I would be rejecting the saddle as not of satisfactory quality.

Kent and Masters (see another thread recently) are well aware that there has been a leather quality issue in a batch of leather, so they will not be surprised to see another one coming back. Its not your saddlers fault, but if you paid them for the saddle your contract is with them and they should be rejecting it on your behalf.

As above, K&M are aware with issues from a dodgy batch of leather, their standard of quality is normally much higher. Speak to your saddler and get them to send it back to K&M to sort - they might replace the dodgy leather or offer you a replacement. SHould be no difficulties at all as they are aware of the issue and the goods are clearly not suitable for the purpose intended.

OP i had a new Kent and master saddle about a month ago. The leather started to rub off within the first two rides. Saddler who supplied the saddle contacted thorowgood who said they had a dodgy batch of leather. The company are in the process of re making saddles for people who purchased the dodgy batch.

So i should be recieving my new saddle soon. Contact your supplier who will be able to replace it for you.

Agree with the others. That is not normal wear. I've had my K&M nearly 3 years, at it looks nothing like that.
Also, not being funny, but surely if you are paying for a new saddle, that is what you should be getting. Boxfresh. Straight from the factory. Not tried out on other people's horses.
That alone would give me the hump to be honest!

thank you for all the replys will give him a ring on tuesday :)

alliersv1 - The saddler lets clients 'try' saddles out for a couple of weeks, then if they don't like them takes them back. I had another saddle on loan for a couple of months, so I don't mind having one someone else has ridden in a few times :)

Ah, fair enough. I hope you get it sorted. That's definitely not normal :)
