She is INCREDIBLE! A big strong gal. Reminds me watching that of Secretariat leaving runners in his wake. I just pray pray pray that they do not get carried away and race her into the ground and it all end in tears. Talk is of the BC Distaff against Zenyatta and all I think about there is history of the great match races and the tendancy to tragedy = Ruffian v Foolish Pleasure; Go for Wand v Bayakoa. Wish I could have gotten there today to see it live.
Amazing horse - what a race! Cefyl - I also love to watch secretariat - especially as he is my neddy's great great grand sire! He actually looks like a small version of the great horse but his racing career was rather more pedestrian!
In all honesty if Zenyatta's 5 year old campaign is anything like her fourth as good as Rachel Alexander is, I do not think she will stand a chance. RA is 10-7 while Zenyatta is a perfecte 9-9. You also have to remember this years BC is on poly (Santa Anita), RA has only won an allowance on poly, while Zenyatta has won stakes on both - she has also raced the best of the best including Ginger Punch, Tough Tiz's Sis, Hystericalady while RA has raced very few quality horses.
Her race was impressive, but Zenyatta is a freak!!!

I think a match race would be very taboo considering how many good horses have been put down on US tracks recently.

Yeah I know proper two horse Match Races (as in Seabiscuit) have been frowned upon for years, I don't know is there a race in America where the fillies take on the colts* where we might see these two up against each other...?
Yes the performance was fantastic, but it does make one wonder about the standard/quality of the rest of this years crop of US 3yo fillies..... To be trounced like that, AR is either a wonder horse, or they are lacking. Time will tell for sure.
