Following on from the video I shared I thought I would post an update. Finn is 11 weeks post surgery and his hoof is healing incredibly well. The shoe and plate were removed today and the hole filled with resin. He can have some field turnout now and we can start to reintroduce gentle work!
That looks so clean and healthy now. You must be so relieved - I know I was when mine reached this stage. Enjoy the rest of the recovery and getting back into work.
Great update, it's a big milestone once the defect is fully keratinised. We're 13 months after surgery now, doing well again after a bit of a blip late summer!
He’s the farrier our vets use for specialist work. I was amazed and really pleased that Finn’s back barefoot so quickly as well, I was expecting him to have to wear a shoe for longer.
