Keratomas

Does anyone have experience with keratomas? Did your horse recover well from the surgery? How long did it take?

My boy has recently returned from hospital after having 2 removed from one hoof (which I’m told is exceedingly rare, lucky me) and the holes in his foot are daunting to say the least 😳

Yes, there was a dressage horse on Facebook that had a huge one removed, and the FB page followed the progress. There were photos and everything. I can't remember which page it was, but someone here might.

I only saw it when it was 75% recovered. When I saw the earlier photos I was astonished that it ever healed up, let alone so well and quickly.

Thank you, my boy has gone very lame again even on bute and the vets aren’t sure why. I’m beginning to despair

My cousins mare had a large one surgically removed at about 18yrs old, surgically shod for a fair while after (maybe a year or more) to support the area, it's was high and fairly big.
She did get reoccurring seedy toe after for almost 2 yrs I think, but she is fine now.
