I know we have ROGs towing clinic but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a list of cars with a kerb weight above 1600kg and under 1900kg with a towing capacity of over 1600kg? I've been looking but im struggling to find any, there must be some out there surely?

<sarcastic mode> FLYING PIG TIME </sarcastic mode> :D

Seriously, The usual difference between kerbweight and GVW is around 500 kgs

The 'cuddles' site has loads of kerbweights and towing capacities listed but no GVWs

To get a B licence to tow 1600 would mean finding a vehicle with these impossible weight specifications -
GVW 1900
Kerb 1600
Towing capacity 1600

I say impossible because in all my seaches I have never come across such as the differences between kerb and GVW have always been around the 500 mark and the example shows a 300 difference

Ooouuuchhhh, my head hurts now :(

So, the new Gov website says a B licence can tow a trailer over 750kg MAM as long as its no more than the unladen weight of the car with a combined weight of no more than 3500kg. Now, in my little head, and I only have a little brain to match, that means I could tow a 403 which has a gross weight of 1600kg with something which weighs between 1600kg and 1900kg. What have I missed out?

Confused....

TWO basic rules for B licence towing

1 - the vehicle GVW added to the trailer plated MAM must not total more than 3500 kgs

2 - the trailer plated MAM must not be more than the vehicle kerbweight

What you can do is to downplate the trailer by contacting the manufacturer for little or no cost which means it will carry less weight but that might still be enough for your needs

Suggestion - find a vehicle you might like to use and then put that along with any weights you have for that onto the HHO towing clinic thread along with the trailer you wish to use and the weight of the horse/load and I will tell you whether it is possible for B licence towing .... hows that ?
