My OH- Darkly Dreaming Dex and IHateWork stood in for me at the Opening Meet. It was a glorious day with a big field :) Lots of poppies on display aswell as poppy sellers collecting money. It was so lovely to see all our friends together again as well as some new faces to welcome :) A smashing meet with generous quantities of port, sausage rolls and fruit cake :)
Here the hounds are leaving the meet:

The girls were on secretary duty so sweeping the back of the field, looking after anyone having a problem etc so were last to leave. DDD on left riding Harry and IHW on right riding my horse, io. They are brothers (Cruising x cob) and it was their first time out together :) This meant a day of clipping/pulling/scrubbing to get them this white

They had a fun day with a mixture of open fields for a gallop and woods to poke through having a breather. Here is IHW on io jumping in the woods:

I think i will need a large crowbar to get him back when i am cleared to ride again, hopefully in a month ;)

DDD on Harry over the same, she was delighted with him as he only did his first jumps a week ago out cubbing with IHW on board

So please send loads of healing vibes for my back so i can get out and join them as its not the same following in a car being bossed about by a load of women :p saying ooh be careful, dont lift that, dont climb that etc honestly its been 2 whole weeks since my spinal fusion was reversed, that should be enough resting surely :D

I'm not sure that DDD would agree 2 weeks is enough rest!! ;)

Fabulous photos, looks like a great day was had by all. The boys look fantastic - a credit to your hard work! I couldn't cope with horses that colour, I stick with chestnuts and bays so the stains don't show up!!

Yes was a very good day, allthough have to agree that car following is not quite the same! Allthough I do think that all the car followers were very polite to EVERYONE!! 2 weeks is not that long and just think the bettter it gets now ie by rest the quicker you will actually be back out riding! :)

This was my first time riding at an Opening Meet and I loved it, a great day. Everyone was really friendly and I agree about the generous quantities of port, sausage rolls and fruit cake! Do you think the quantities of port helped the general ambience?

its always lovely to see everyone after the summer off :) just how hunting should be- a group of friends, old and new, coming together to enjoy following hounds :) i think the port was a little generous as i ended up wearing my 3rd glass  bloomin youngster
