Out working in Khazakstan just now in the Caspian Sea and was doing a bit of reading and came across this !

Yes.. not exactly a new train of thought..

Khazakstan has been atributed the honour of domesticating the horse for a long time.

I am pretty sure this area was part of the persian empire and there fore has indeed been creditied for starting to domesticate the horse for some time. However domesticating does not nessecarilay mean riding, the horses were herded so they could be eaten, riding came much later!!

Bit too far North for the Persian Empire I think, thats Iran, I worked there for 4 1/2 years too.
But it was latest news to me when I came out to Khazakstan to work this summer.
They still eat horses out here and they are considered a delicacy and are eaten at all their big feasts etc.
