1. Do you tow....

2. If yes what make.....

3. Does it tow smoothly or is it a bit jerky???

Have ruled out the trailer being faulty as its been thoroughly checked out and serviced ...... nothing found!!!

Wondering now if the car is jerky and not the trailer!!

Girl on the yard has one and pulls an equitrailer (the one with living) and says its lovely.

What probs are you having? (sorry if I have missed a previous post).

It is jerky...... the car not the trailer...... trailer fully serviced on friday.

Car just feels like its snatching even when on a smooth road, on a rough road its quite horrid

Hi, I have been registered since 2005, but forgot about this forum so Hi!!!

We are on our second Sorrento and like Folara above we tow an equitrek, we love the car and have had no probs towing with it at all. Caravan magazine and Which Car mag have both made it "tow car of the year" in the last 2 or 3 years. We had the XS and now have the XT which I think have a 2.5 litre engine.

Hmmm maybe you have a sticking brake cylinder or something (I know diddly about cars lol). Get it in a garage to have a good check over before you go too far in it. Dont want to have an accident.

Good luck.

Must admit that is why I bought it..... it came well recommended.... when it tows nicely it is fabby..... but when its jerky I spend the whole journey feeling sick.

Having had the trailer fully seerviced I think it is now time for the car to be checked. But I have only had it for 6 weeks, from a main dealer...... so I will be cross if its the car (but relieved at the same time)

Fingers crossed it's something simple with the car, have you got a warrenty - hopefully it will be covered - good luck! We have never had a moments problem with either Sorrento - oh except when i try and park in Waitrose car park it's so damn big to get between those narrow white lines!!!!!

Dover garage in Normandy, Surrey..... they have been ok so far......

The rear windscreen wiper didnt work when I got it home and also the knob to change where the hot air blows didnt change anything....... both blown fuses though, put it down to the towbar being fitted???

Will ring them this week and see what they say!!!

I have a Sorento & it's fab. Easily tows my Ivor Williams with my 2 16hh girls in it. Mines never jerky. I can forget I've got a trailer on the back on an open road!! I did have fuel contamination on mine thanks to tesco a couple of weeks ago & was loosing power coz of it. Thankfully I didn't have a trailer on the back. So I'd avoid Tesco diesel if I were you...

XE is the basic model

I have the XS diesel auto and its very smooth pulling 2 horses in an ifor 510

No jerking, but I do occasionally get carried away as you can forget the trailer is on the back!!

Only negative is the freqent trips to the filling station, but probably because I tow once or twice a week.

I have done most of my towing with a 06 manual, put we have had a "jerking" on reverse on a lock and driving forward again on a lock have been told it was the 4x4 drive transmission (it was only 6 mths old at the time), it is an intermittant problem and still not cured it is not exclusive to towing but obviously is uncomfortable for us and ponies when it does it!! It is still being investigated! Have just bought a 08 auto but still yet to tow with it but brakes are appalling with bad vibration and it will be going back to garage asap!!

1. Yes I tow with my Sorento

2. I have the 2.5 Diesel XS (so full-time 4WD) (55 plate. 44k miles)

3. Tows VERY smoothly, although I did notice a slight judder at one particular speed, like say 34 or 35 the first time I towed with it. But it passed quickly enough and hasn't happened since! I just assumed my gear selection was poor

It does make a juddering noise if you have the - oh my god I've forgotten the word for it - roof window thingy (!) open, at about 40mph. I think that's air passing over it.

Persevere, they are FAB towing cars.

I would accelerate & then it would lose power - I guess jerky. Then it started stalling as I accelerated up hills so I had to take it to the garage. Cost me £200 for a new fuel filter. They said to stay away from Tesco diesel as Tesco make it cheaper by adding more biodiesel & less additives than the other garages. The car itself really has been great. Had it 2 years & done 20k.

Just spoken to garage, and they have told me exactly what you say......Tesco is crap!!!!

will fill up in future from branded ie, esso fuel stations..... bummer coz the points were adding up nicely!!!!
