For people who own kia sorentos what are they like for towing and how much do they cost to run? i.e. fuel, tax and insurance etc.

I am hoping to change my car so that i can tow my 15.2 cob.

Thanks

Hi, i love mine - tax runs out this month and is £270, insurance cant remember exactly but around £200 or so. I did all the comparison sites and then through quidco for cash back. MPH about 35 I think. Great for towing - pulls my ascot with 2 horses in no problems.
In fact cant think of anything negative, bar the dent OH put in it a few weeks ago grrrrrrr!

Was thinking about one of these myself when I change cars as the bigger engined diesel tows plenty and well. Not the cheapest to run tax and fuel wise but apparently have a decent spec and are lovely to drive :)

I love mine. It's the older model (04) as I think the brand new ones don't have such a good towing capacity. I tow an IW505 with my 16h boy on board regularly & sometimes my friends 15h cob too & you barely notice it having to work. I couldn't tell you the fuel consumption, obviously more than an average hatchback but when I compared notes with a friend who has a Range Rover it was cheaper to tax, insure etc as well as having a better turning circle and easier access to the boot. I would highly recommend them to anyone thats not hung up on brand badges ;-)

I couldn't recommend a better jeep. I love mine and touch wood has never given me an ounce of trouble. Tows great with my 505 and large holstein, wouldn't even feel it. The newer sorento's have a different tow capacity, they have lowered it which is a shame as it was one of the main selling points for people towing horses. Mine jeep is a 56 plate with 80000 miles and I have had it from new. Fuel is what you would expect from a 4x4 and is expensive to fuel but only because of rising fuel prices.

KIA Sorento Technical Specifications
That has the specs for many of the models - scroll down for weights

PS - needs a B+E licence for horse trailer towing as the GVWs are 2510 kgs so that only leaves 990 kgs plated MAM for a trailer if towing on a B licence

So pleased to hear such positive replies. I went to test drive a Sorento yesterday and agreed to buy it as I was so impressed with the specification and the drive. Looking forward to get rid of the ageing Discovery (which has been a great workhorse!) -and have my super new car next week!
