I have a mare who kicks her stable, constantly through the night. It is becoming such a problem, that i have been asked to leave my yard as it is keeping the yard owner awake. I have put carpet & rubber mats up on the wall, to block the sound, but it hasn't worked. Living out at this yard is not an option. does anybody have any suggestions?

Sounds like she's not very keen on being in there! Could she try a different stable (maybe larger) or be kept out?
Might she have mites or something that is causing her to kick out to try to relieve the itching??

Can she see horses in the next stable? My mare HATED having another horse near her stable and used to kick the stable walls to retaliate - as soon as she was moved to a stable where she couldn't see anyone next door she stopped doing it?

Try feeding a calmer - one for mares might be good, but they can take a while to get into the system. I hope you get this sorted, what a pain !! sm x

I know of a horse that used to kick its stable wall with its back legs ALL the time. After a long investigation in turns out the horse was in a lot of pain which was always worse when standing in. Turns out it had bone spavin in both hocks and since he's been operated on now stays in its stable as quiet as anything.

My point being.... worth checking its not pain related rather than behaviour ??

Thank you for your reply. she is in a very large stable, he also does it when standing in the field (when she isn't grazing). i will get her checked out for mites, but feel this is unlikely as she has been doing this for 5 years now. i didn't realise the extent she was doing it too as her previous yard, no one lived on site and i only saw marks on the wall, to where she had been kicking. The current yard owner says she des in through the late night every 20 seconds or so...

She can see other horses where she currently is, but has been in a stable where she couldn't see any other horses & still did it.

I have just posted a thread re my husband's horse who does something similar and then saw yours. We are at a total loss, Please let me know if you find any reason and I will do the same, good luck!
