My horse has kicked my other horse causing cuts which have removed the hair and was a bit bloody.

Horse is not lame and very happy, however this happened yesterday and her leg is now relatively swollen although not very hot. What would you do in this situation, anyones done anything similar as it seems very superficial, would defo be calling vet if it was deeper but its literally just skin deep.

Inflammation is nature's way of sending blood to the area to heal the wound and create scar tissue so I wouldn't worry too much.
If it looks like it's drying up and your horse isn't sore then it's probably fine. I'd give it a hose to take any heat out there might be and give it a spray with some antibacterial spray but I'm sure it's fine. If worried at all could always call the vet to make sure :).

Echo tetanus jab being up to date and then just keep it clean, maybe sudocream or aloe Vera gel to keep the flies off it and if it's swollen, cold hose it. Could always just call the vets and see what they suggest over the phone?

I would keep him turned out so he can move around and the swelling should reduce, cold hosing to clean initially and then twice daily to help reduce any inflammation, keep an eye on it but if only superficial it should go down fairly quickly although if it was a kick there may be some deeper bruising which can take a bit longer to disperse.

All Vaccinations up to date, however one issue is this particular horse hates, and i mean hates the feeling of water on her legs so constant washing i think would cause her more trauma than anything else. Anti bac and purple spray have been applied and all dried up my only worry is the swelling as its taken a while to come up.

If it really is just the top couple of layers of skin I use purple spray to dry it out adn protect it.
Anything slightly deeper/ more bloody, I use green oils, nice anticeptic get which keeps flys off and is moist so allows the cut to heal from the inside out, so nothing nasty gets trapped inside.
I echo the suggestion to leave him out and keep him moving to keep the swelling down.

My boy got kicked just above the knee a week or so ago, it swelled up and had a cut on it, we cleaned it up and cold hosed it and he was never lame on it and there is only a small lump left there now, so I'd agree with the others above.
