Has anyone else here suffered from these, I have them for the second time, last time though I didn't have my own horse. I am very lucky as I have a terrific person riding my boy for me as riding is out of the question till they are removed, I am missing riding so much and feel down, there are so many people worse off than me so feel bad for grumbling just feel isolated as don't know any others who have had this.
It may sound odd but would just love to know the cause and really hope the analysis will tell me what to avoid as couldnt take a third time ! !
Cookies for getting this far, cannot even go to YHL now as to far to drive Grr

Ouch, you have my sympathies, I've had kidney stones twice. I started drinking more milk as they keep telling you you should, and developed a kidney stone, although the doctor insisted it wasn't because of the extra milk I'd been drinking (?)

So I took calcium tablets instead, and got another kidney stone.

I give up!

Drink as much clear liquid as you can stomach and take paracetamol.

I hope it passes quickly!

My OH has had several bouts of kidney stones, they usually pass by themselves but are extremely painful. He's had them analysed but there's no real cause other than he is prone to them. He usually has a few within a several months and then goes several years without them. He had been advised to drink plenty of water. Luckily although painful they aren't generally untoward.

Pitch black my sympathies to you and reddie my thought to your oh, I'm drinking water like it's going out of fashion and living on pain killers until the op to take them out I have two and they are to big to go alone. I did hear once you had stones once you likely to get them again.

I would rather go through childbirth and have wisdom teeth extracted without sedation, and at the same time, than go through kidney stones again! My sympathies with everyone affected.
Mine were too big to pass so I had Lythotripsy (sp?) over a period of time to break them up. I think it uses ultrasound to blast them and it feels like somebody twanging a big rubber band in your innards!
Apart from what's already been said, I was advised to avoid strawberries and to make sure I didn't 'wait' before emptying my bladder.

Pitch black my sympathies to you

Thanks

until the op to take them out I have two and they are to big to go alone.

Oh noes! I was lucky with both of mine, I was able to pass them - a very bumpy car ride seemed to help dislodge the second one!

I did hear once you had stones once you likely to get them again.

I've not had any since my last one, which was 5-10 years ago (I don't remember exactly) But then I've made sure I stay away from calcium!

Good luck with yours! ((hugs))

Thank you to all nice to know I'm not alone in this, I wish I could have lithotripsy but they tried last time and couldnt take the pain, so it's a general for me this time I have two stones one 5 mm and one 6 mm both in right kidney, some days are good some days I just want to curl up and cry:( my last one was taken out in 2006. Superted1989 I'll advoid strawberries also worth trying anything is worth trying.
Pitch black glad you were able to pass yours I'll avoid calcium also.
Hope won't take to long to get my op done so I can enjoy my boy again along with the lady who is riding for me now, I'm so lucky she found us she is worth her weight in gold and some and hope she wants to keep riding even when I'm better.

My sympathies too. I have never known a pain like it :(

Any know how you can balance the conflict of being post menopause and needing calcium to prevent osteoporosis with never wanting to suffer the pain of a kidney stone pain again??
