As all we seem able to do at the moment is ride in the school, due to the weather, I need some ideas to make schooling more exciting for my daughter and her pony.

The pony gets very bored of being schooled and will get naughty, we have been doing alot of jumping and the odd gymkanna race to liven it up a bit. Anyone got any other different things we could try?

You could build a handy pony course, some tarpaulins for the pony to go over, get it used to umbrella's etc, make a narrow gap out of jump wings. You could maybe also loose school - great fun for pony and rider but get someone experienced to show you if you have never worked a horse loose before

Is the pony okay to lunge? how about work without stirrups?

Working with cones, ground poles etc all adds interest. Make spooky fillers for jumps out of bright materials. Perhaps get your daughter to think up and make some herself.

I'd stick to the gymkhana theme. Have you done cones etc this is good for keeping them bending etc and pony/daughter wouldn't even know they were practising something coz they wd be having fun. How about incorporating a ring of cones to practice 20m circles etc

what about a "Le Trec" style thing.

basically put out some cones so you can weave through them, then a few jumps dotted about, some trot poles, a *tunnel* made out of poles, some cones you ahve to circle round, and a few other things like you have to pick up and move to another place. and what about some teambuilding??
