In 2007, an 'artist' called Guillermo Vargas Habacuc caught a stray dog on the street, tied it up on a short leash to the wall of an art gallery and left it there to die slowly of hunger and thirst. Over the next few days, the artist himself and visitors to the gallery watched impassively as this happened. Now the prestigious Central American Biennial of Art has decided that this was art and has asked Vargas Habacuc to repeat his actions in the Biennial of 2008. If you don't believe it, Google the artist's name... Please sign the petition

On the petition page, the four things it asks for are name, email, town and country. The rest is in English, I think.

I have tried to sign the petition but it wont accept it?????
 
What the hell is wrong with people??? I would gladly tie him to a fence on a very short lead and live him to die a very slow, lingering death

I'm all for art having a message, but I draw a line at this.

If the artist was clearly campaigning against the treatment of stray dogs, it could be verging on acceptable (look at Hugh FW's battery farm for example), but this is clearly a meaningless effort to create "shock" art.

What an absolute twat, this world is so full of aresholes, it makes me so angry that people can do this, and to call it art, what a bunch of morons.
 
Is this the one who stuck dried dog food words on the wall just out of reach of the dog? Obviously the sick b*stard was delighted with the outcry last time he pulled this stunt. Too sick for words; the artist and the visitors.

I cant believe that such a barbaric act could possibly be called art in the mind of any sane and balanced human being. I agree I would love to tie him to fence and watch him starve to death, although I dont think i could stomach it!!! But its what he deserves, what an evil, twisted tosser.

Ive signed petition and emailed it to all my friends to sign too

Ive just looked at this, even though I knew I shouldnt as it would upset me. I cant believe that our fellow human beings can be so cruel, for such a worthless purpose. No 'art' (so-called) is worth the life of any living creature, unless its the sick bastards who think its art! ALL of the people who watched this happen in sick and inhuman, that poor little dogs face is pitiful, begging for help, and they just ignored him/her. It sickens me to be the same species as these ignorant arseholes!
 
I do think its genuine even though I can't read the Spanish as my NH instructor in Spain sent the same link to me.

I mean, the spanish have different standards of acceptable (I am told many leave horses hobbled or tethered in the blazing hot sun with no shade and only water them once every few days) but even so this is beyond disgusting.

A pickled shark, an unmade bed, to name but a few... are expressions named art. Artists have to work harder all the time if they want to shock, which I expect is what this misguided idiot thought he'd do. A thinly veiled cheap publicity stunt. I sincerely hope is career is killed not kicked off due to this.

I enjoy modern art, and stretching the boundaries of Art but this is pure animal cruelty, not art.

urgh thats so horrible it sounds like fiction.so sad its real,what are people thinking?!how can anyone watch it happen.
i hope he gets run over by a bus or something.i would be totally ashamed if i was his mother that i had produced such a sick individual!
 
Sick twat! I would like to see him do it again so someone or even myself if i had the chance to change the times and string him up with no food or water and call it art and let the dog draw him while he dies now thats more what i call art animals final getting a voice maybe. I just can't believe how sick people really are to animals tbh.
 
I've just tried to sign the petition but the link has been disabled as apparently it is spam. Now I dont know if this has any bearing on the reliability of the original site but if that is genuine then it is one of the most sick, disgusting things I have ever seen. How the hell could the visitors just pass by and leave him to die? I would have gladly cut that rope and took the dog away, even if it were just to the vet to be PTS. If anyone had tried to stop me I'd have happily punched them. I don't usually get worked up by things but this takes the biscuit. Utterly sick and I hope that artist gets what he deserves.

Normally I'm not one for swearing on forums, but those above don't even come close to what went through my mind... I'd like to track this guy down and repeat the 'art' on him.
