Hi all, I tried a fab KS son the other year and now I'm thinking of breeding from my dutch mare - does anyone have offspring of this stallion? Would be interested to hear about temperament and so on, or from anyone with a larger mare. Thanks!

Lots of offspring on the show circuit. We have a 3yo filly here that will make a 14.2hh show pony. She's already done well in hand and her full sister has had a very successful under saddle career.

I wouldn't breed him to a sharp mare.

Thanks, the mare in question is quite a mellow person and vice free but not a novice riding horse. She is 16.1 with good bone, thought he might suit her as don't want anything heavier etc. The son I tried was out of a welsh mare and had a fantastic front. Any other recommendations on pony stallions of this type to look at would be appreciated - a good temperament is a must.

Yup, we had a little PBA filly by him, I agree with Volatis wouldnt put him to a sharp mare. Whenever this filly was naughty we used to say thats the scoundrel in her! Very smart horse though

We had a Kilvington Scoundrel gelding who was stunning and good under saddle but quite difficult to handle on the ground. He was definately a late maturer and is much better now (we have kept in contact with his new owners)- he must be about 9 now. I spoke to a chap who used to handle KS as a youngster and he said he was great to do anything with - so maybe it was our horse's dam that had the 'quirky' gene.

hi ,i have also heard that kilvington scoundrel stock can be quite sharp but undoubtedly they are very beautiful and considering so many make it to the horse of the year show one would assume they cant be too bad temperament wise. i know if only he were a bit closer i would use him.
