Could anyone tell me if you can get this bit with a french link?

I have seen it with a snaffle type bit but I am not a fan of the nutcracker effect. If you can get them are they effective on strong horses with little steering/brakes. Fany, an Ardennes and extremely strong, is still being school and I know that the control should come from the back end etc. but she also likes to hack out and is strong when ridden in her full cheek french link snaffle, which could be dangerous.

Thanks.

I have never seen them with a french link, but having this type of bit (curb) jointed with a single joint, makes them a bit stronger than with the cambridge mouth.

Kimblewicks are great for strong horses, but it depends on whether the horse leans or has the head raised when being strong.

Yes, you can get them with a french link. You need to find a tack shop/saddlery that sells Abbey Bits, and they can get one from Abbey for you. You can check, but not order, from their sister site www.ridingbitz.com

heya i ride our cob in a cambridge mouth kimblewick as he can get very strong.

we went for this type cos he has a rather large tongue and found this more comfortable than the single jointed.

we did look for a french link but could never find one but might have a look at the abby bits now.

Yes you can, very rare but sprenger just about do one.
I have one 2nd hand & it's brilliant.
I really needed it for the curb, not the mouthpiece & cant have too much poll pressure, so it was perfect.

have tried a cheltenham gag on my old cob many years ago worked a treat for me as I took him hunting and a light weight in those days. I suddenly feel depressed as have worked out how many years ago.
