OMG !!!! how can it possibly happen ? bet they dont get prosecuted . its really unbelievable . sitting in a parked car for one second was torture yesterday ! those poor dogs.

That's really sad but I think it's important to highlight that death can occur within THIRTY MINUTES I don't think that people realise this (as half an hour doesn't seem long enough to worry does it) - it's the same with babies/toddlers too - soo all those mums that ride/do yard jobs whilst baby is asleep please transfer baby into pram and put in the shade

Absolutely disgusting, those poor dogs! I hope the handlers are removed from the dog section permanently at the very least, hopefully they will get a jail sentence

Out-Bloody-Rageous, they would be the first to smash a car window in if a dog was left in it (and quite rightly so), why can't they look after their own?

"Nottinghamshire's Assistant Chief Constable, Peter Davies, said: "This is a tragic incident and we value the important work our police dogs carry out on a daily basis."

What's tragic about it, it's just down right irresponsible, and as for value.....well not very high!!!!!!!

Sorry I'm fuming.

Poor dogs, what a way to go and what a way to repay them their loyalty and trust they put into some stupid humans.

Poor dogs, hope the RSPCA bring a prosecution.

Also think of the thousands of pounds of tax payers money just thrown away. I guess the police attitude is there will always be another one.

How can you forget two dogs in a car?
I'm not a dog owner, but still...

(I confess to putting a fan on Samham's cage, and giving him a 'paddling pool' yesterday, but don't tell anyone or it'll kill my image).

It can actually happen quicker and given that police were the ones initially with the powers to smash windows to get dogs out AND these are working dogs (so you would think they have SOME education), they should know better. I wouldn't leave an animal in a car for ANY length of time in this heat. 1 minute is too long. If it's true that no-one is suspended, then what hypocrites they are. I hope the RSPCA push for a prosecution, but won't hold my breath.

I just heard about this on the news, you would think as dog handlers they would know better. I don't have dogs, but surely in this heat they shouldn't be left alone in a stationary car at all???
