Kinesio tape for riding? Or any suggestions for ankle strapping?

I really want to get back riding properly. I've had enough of hobbling around and think it maybe less painful to be sat on the horse rather than leading them around.
However in order to get around I've become very reliant on my aircast ankle support and need to find something else less bulky but still supportive for riding. I've tried riding in the aircast, it's too bulky and I lose feel on that side and can't wear spurs with it either. I've got nerve damage in that ankle anyway so anything that further reduces what I can feel is unhelpful.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience of using the kinesio tape for strapping up injuries and if it helped? Or is anyone in a similar position to me and managed to find an ankle support that does the job?

I had very nasty soft tissue damage in my ankle after a fall in summer 2012. After a short break from riding, every time I go on long rides my ankle is in absolute agony. I did a sponsored ride in March, after 2 hours I had to jump off and was again in A&E with soft tissue damage.
This time wasn't as bad and I competed in a mini endurance ride 3 weeks later. I used the Elastoplast 'Adjustable Ankle Stabiliser'. It fitted under my boot and chaps and I was painfree for the entire ride :) Miracle!
Bought it from boots for about £20

Have a look at Bioskin Supports. They do great ankle braces that are slim, especially for sport,
one of their ankle braces can fit inside a snowboard or Ski boot.
Kinesio tape will not help as much this is really for rehabilitation of damaged ligaments not for pure support. Wear the Kinesio tape all the time when not riding to help the joint, take off and just wear the BioSkin Support when doing riding or any other sport.
