does anyone have any advice about the kineton nosebands. i have a strong horse who loves his job but doesnt seem to respect me pulling him up between or after fences. He also seems very sensitive and was running away from gags we put on him. Currently working in an neue shule elevator which hes happy in but still not pulling up. Would a kineton noseband work? :o

excellent piece of equipment and it is only working when you are pulling otherwise it is nice and relaxed, with no tying up of the mouth together like nosebands do, give it a try it will surprise you.

Thanks I may have got my hands on one for tomorrows lesson will definatly be trying it, my gelding will be quick to tell me if he's not happy.

I had great results with one - for a while

One of mine is very strong most of the time and virtually unstoppable when hunting and someone kindly lent me one which I used with my Myler mullen barrel for a few weeks but only when out hunting. I had tried different bits which were no use at all but this worked very well with the Myler so I invested in one.

After a few weeks in it ( so roughly 6 - 8 weeks in total, used once a week when hunting ) she started really flinging her nose around and just generally poking her nose out, tanking off & flinging her head around all at the same time.

I took it off in the end and the head movement stopped so I decided not to use it. It's a real shame because in the early weeks using it I could get her back under control with very gentle rein contact.

What I would say is if you try one it may be worth thinking about rubber bit guards because they can rub a bit.

Good luck.

One of the pointers I worked with had one for hunting so that he didn't get a ripped mouth. Wore it for years.
