OK so I wrote on here a couple of years ago about how absolutely heart broken my parents were at losing their beloved CKCS, well roll forward & dad is making noises about how walks are so much better with a dog, I think us getting a sprocker last year, that he is besotted with doesn't help. parents are active but elderly - 84 & 75, so don't want a puppy, but the only king Charles I can see in rescues are 10 with health problems
& I'd like them to have their new friend for a few yearsi f possible, though I know there are no guarantees in life. They could offer: 50 + years of king Charles ownership knowledge. large house with large secure garden, regular walks, all the love attention & vet care he/she needed.
Can anyone offer any suggestions of where I could look for a new friend for them, we live in Norfolk, but more than happy to travel
Thaks

I don't think they really mind, in the past they have had cavalier king Charles, but just adore spaniels full stop, only I think something like our sprocker would be a bit too much, but he is an ex gun dog, just a happy lap dog who needed lots of love would probably do, any suggestions gratefully received, thanks

Just keep looking, its taken us 6 months to find one very similar. We signed up for a cavalier rescue group on facebook and watched a breed/rescue on there called heronbank or heronsbank, can't remember the exact name. Bliss seem to have a few coming through but lots have issues. Try local vets and dog trainers/clubs, they might know somebody, that's where the one we found came from in the end. Good luck!

Have you tried Bliss Cavalier Rescue on fb? They often have younger cavaliers.

Thanks, I did look but currently the only ones are 10+ with health issues, think I need to just keep looking, this is going to take a while I think, but that's not an issue

Would they consider fostering for a breed rescue? That way they would get the spaniel experience without the long-term commitment.

Probably not very helpful but Welsh springers are significantly more laid back and slightly smaller than their English counterparts in my experience. Their major downside is a strong tendency towards separation anxiety which wouldn't be an issue for a retired couple. If you're looking for a mature dog perhaps consider them as well.
