Its for a 14.3hh pony who takes a 5'6 rug, he's quite short backed but big around the front end so am struggling to find a reasonably priced winter rug for him.
have seen a kingshead one at a good price but have never had one before.
Any opinions?

I had one a few years ago and it was a lovely rug - fit my broad chested mare no problems and lasted well. If the current rugs are the same quality you should be fine. :)

I have a widdleweight T/O of theirs and it's lasted well, it's in it's 3rd winter now and still going. The only thing is i've found it's a bit big at the front but my mare is a TB and isn't particularly broad across the front. I think it would fit your broader lad much better. Quality has been very good though :)

I have 2 kingshead stable rugs, one of them I've had for years. I like them and my girl is has a big chest and shoulders.

I have a 15 hand big chested cob who fits 6'6" rugs - the best one for her is the mw Kingshead I got her - it is 8 or 9 years old and is washed and reproofed every year and still going strong.:) I bought another one in the sale that year as back up but never used it until this year - my neices TB is wearing it:)
