Well our result looks horrific on paper but I'm thrilled!

Arrived in plenty of time and got ready for dressage, he warmed up nicely and when our poor flustered judge eventually arrived (she got lost, never bodes well!) we got 36.7. I was reallly pleased as he hasn't done dressage since early August.

SJ: not great for him 1 refusal and 2 poles, not surprising as the last comp out doors was at Houston BE where he went lame & our season ended last August. He seemed much happier by the last fence.

XC: although I did Intro last year the PN was tougher than I remembered with a new drop to the water & a bigger drop on the steep hill.

Haven't completed a BE xc since July last year so nervous was an understatement!

He sailed over the first 8 and then hesitated at the drop at the top of the hill (my fault) stopped at the ditch in the coffin (his fault) and ran out at the corner (me again!

)

Then he flew the Trakhener, I was thrilled with how well he did the water, popped down the drop, into the water and cantered straight out over the rolltop, he was a star. Then cleared everything to the finish & took a stride out over the last which made for a bit of a flyer!

So like I said bad day on paper but I'm really pleased!

Scone next but if he's to go XC I'll need to start doing my rain dance.

Congrats, you must be pleased! The course was a lot toughter this year wasnt it! I did the Novice which had a couple of interesting questions but it rode well, except the jump before the drop I didnt like. Cant wait til Scone either, atleast the ground there will be OK even if we dont get rain.

Well done Nic01. Will go check out your pics in a sec. How did you do jumpingkanga?

We got a double clear in the novice so very pleased with that. The novice course certainly was a lot lot tougher than last year!! I was worried about the horrid 2 fences to a very narrow thing on a right angle and as for that horrid narrow brush in the water - hated that! And we got a little lost from the trakhener over the hill to the log before the water, I couldnt see where it was! Our dressage was the usual stress-age as horse was hyper as hell seeing the horses XC'ing next door. So he felt ready to explode although our marks should have been a lot worse!

Are you 2 not doing Brechin? The ground at Kirrie was like concrete....!

At the end of the day, its YOU that has to be happy with your round, who cares what anyone else thinks!

You got him round, you felt that he produced some promising bits, thats the main thing.

SOme of the fences looked full up in your pics, the sjing was very colourful too.

Im pleased your pleased, that the main thing.

Sounds positive, he sounds a bit green but thats to be expected and I'm sure it will improve as he gets more runs

JK - Well done, I really didn't envy you the arrow head/ skinny thing or the brush to the drop

MM - wasn't best pleased that the ground hadn't been touched at Kirrie, were you stabled at Brechin, we walked part of the course on Sat night & the ground was worse than Kirrie but don't know if they are planning on touching it. Noodlejaffa had a blowout en route & missed her section.

Boss - he's not green but we both lost a lot of confidence last year so fingers crossed the only way is up!

Jeez, hope they do something to the ground at Brechin then if its that bad. Need some rain really (us Scots are never happy with the weather!). We'll just have to see what its like on the day I guess. Do any courses in Scotland use that Agrivator thingy??

just looked at your pics and they are great. We haven't ever done Kirrie as it is to early for us. Had one horse going to Brechin but she has been pulled as her owner is worried about the ground.
We are really struggling to find good ground, it is just solid now, had a few showers today but not enough to improve the going.
I think Scone has an agrivator thing, and I know Burgie has one.

The same agrivator travels all round scotland and I'm sure its called Martha or Muriel or something like that but I don't know what events use it.

Well done Nicole he looks really good. What other events are planning? I was thinking of going upto Scone for the day but I have an exam the next day so thought it was better that I did some studying.

Scone used it last year, IMO ground wouldn't have been rideable without it.

We are off to Scone next then all Dubh's events will depend on ground with his arthritis & DA's education is taking priority at the mo.

Hi, I was pelased with my horse, dressage was much improved (we were 3rd overall in our section) but then had 2 rails SJ and clear XC. But we got loads of time faults, I didnt want to push him on the hard ground and was more worried about getting the lines right! I did a circle between 7A/B and 8, what did everyone else do? The water rode well but I didnt like the brush and drop combination.
I read on eventingworldwide that they had tried to use the agrivator but it had just bought up all the stones so they couldnt use it. I'm not doing Brechin, rather just wait for Scone. Plus the ground will be really hard at Brechin.

We watched about 8 horses over that combo and all bar one circled. The one person that turned managed it perfectly (Think it might have been Louisa M-H) I'd definitely have circled though, what was it, 2 strides?(didn't walk it)

Never saw anywhere that looked like it had seen the agrivator but at least they tried. Still praying for rain before Scone
