And just as an aside, I then took my ones shoes off in April (vet a little concerned about this idea!) as his feet had not been properly balanced by a new farrier for the last year - utter mess to say the least but I took him out 2 wks ago where he pulled in 75% in his warm up prelim test (his first time doing a class since my lorry was nicked 2 1/2yrs ago) - never would have happened pre-op. I think the hardest thing to get over is the mental damage and learned behaviour that comes from this condition but my horse hacks out alone and in company now - was hopeless and dangerous alone pre op and would never have been able to concentrate well enough to do a decent test, he is worse than very sharp! But he is so much happier in himself and he has over time got better and more and more relaxed at trying new things and he has just started jumping 2ft 9 with ease (have only this last year or so been brave enough to let him jump). If your can deal with taking him out, I bet he will deal with it too - I look forward to hearing about him thrashing the competition next time he goes out and about - I'll lay money he does you proud!
