Kissing spines 25 days after ligament resection

And just as an aside, I then took my ones shoes off in April (vet a little concerned about this idea!) as his feet had not been properly balanced by a new farrier for the last year - utter mess to say the least but I took him out 2 wks ago where he pulled in 75% in his warm up prelim test (his first time doing a class since my lorry was nicked 2 1/2yrs ago) - never would have happened pre-op. I think the hardest thing to get over is the mental damage and learned behaviour that comes from this condition but my horse hacks out alone and in company now - was hopeless and dangerous alone pre op and would never have been able to concentrate well enough to do a decent test, he is worse than very sharp! But he is so much happier in himself and he has over time got better and more and more relaxed at trying new things and he has just started jumping 2ft 9 with ease (have only this last year or so been brave enough to let him jump). If your can deal with taking him out, I bet he will deal with it too - I look forward to hearing about him thrashing the competition next time he goes out and about - I'll lay money he does you proud!

I've sat on him!!!

Only for a few seconds but he was perfectly calm and happy and nothing like the poor tense, frightened horse on 2 bute a day i last sat on. And i mounted from the stirrup too :)

Just over a week now to our first 'ride'. I'm planning a 10 minute hack.

PS it is now 33 days since he was operated on.

Oh well done cptrayes!! Im so excited for you, this is lovely news! I want to wish you the very best of luck in your rehab, Im sure you are going to be fine, all the signs are positive! You go girl!!

Thanks jb, I'm so relieved :)

I was getting so tense because we're so close and if it fails it will be such a disaster!

Got it all crossed for you 3b. :)

Wow so fast! We didn't get to ride until um Oct 19 to Jan 1, a lot of days. We had the bone shaving op (no removal). Now working beautifully with trainer but had major teeth issues EDT missed a few things so that slowed our progress plus learned behaviour broke my nerve. Now the hunting cob floats!

That's the benefit of not touching the bones themselves. Ride at six weeks is routine for ligament resection. Glad yours is going well :)

I am on rehab now I have spent so long trying to ride straight I am crooked that and a bounce off my right hip at speed 8 weeks ago but I don't care about me it's just lovely seeing a very unhappy horse move so well and as soon as my physio is sorted .... :)

I have doubts about how I'm going to sit on the amount of movement mine's showing now. Poor boy must have had a constant backache :(
