Kissing Spines and Hock Spavin - what can I do?

Hello everyone,

My 12-year old mare has kissing spines and hock spavin. She is on Cosequin and MSM, is being lunged daily and lightly hacked, plus cooling with cold water after exercise. She has daily full-day turnout.

My question is, what can I do to make her more comfortable? In the form of stretches, massages, wrapping, exercising... Anything?

Wouldn't be doing any stretching exercises with her condition unless advised by a vet or physio otherwise, you could do more harm then good.

Definitely make sure everything you do is OK by your vet and physio.

I lost my horse recently to KS and suspensory damage so know how hard it is to juggle two serious issues. God luck and keep us posted.
