A friends horse has suspected KS and is going to be checked out tomorrow at an equine hospital she is wondering if she needs to take tack along and if she will be required to ride the horse for the vet to see it's reaction?

Our vet would have liked to see ours ridden but we refused to due to his extreme behaviour when in pain. However it was diagnosed well without him being ridden. I would take your tack especially if your horse behaves differently when someone is on board.....

I rode for Newmarket when my boy was diagnosed as the first signs showed up under saddle. They then blocked out various parts of his body to see how he worked differently. Definately take your tack

I rode my girl for the vet, under the saddle she was so different i wanted him to see exactly how she was.

I would say take your tack

Thanks for the replies everyone! She has gone off today so keeping fingers crossed they find out what's wrong with the horse. She has taken tack, helmet and body protector!! As you can imagine she is reluctant to ride due to the extreme behaviour the horse can exhibit, thing is it's not every time so she doesn't know from one day to the next what the reaction will be. Will let you know how she gets on.
