Hi, am looking for a new boot/hat/kit bag to take with me to shows with my University riding club. As I'll be using public transport to get to shows, it needs to be fairly portable but also hold a lot of stuff. It definitely needs to be able to store my hat and long boots and if it had enough space in it for me to put in my jods/show jacket that would be great too (but probably not very likely!). Does anyone have any personal recommendations? I've been looking at the following ones:

SSL: http://www.mad4ponies.com/acatalog/SSL_hat_long_boot_hat_bag.html (but don't like the fact it doesn't have a shoulder strap to carry it)

Rambo: http://www.shopwiki.co.uk/detail/?q=Bags...at+%26+Boot+Bag (looks nice and big although I hate the check colour!)

GPA: http://www.equestrianclearance.com/matchmakers/gpa_hat_boot_bag#gallery (little pricey and doesn't look like there's much room? or is it deceptive? like the padded shoulder strap though)

Woof Wear: http://www.saddlery.biz/pp/Boot_Bags_and_Holdalls/Boot_Bags_and_Holdalls/Woof_Wear_Hold_All.html (is this long enough for long boots though? ie. not short boots and chaps?)

Would appreciate any personal recommendations before I spent money online!

The Rambo one has a garment carrier, saddle carrier and bridle bag as well. There's also a really cute backpack with seat that is great for shows

Thanks MrsMozart, as we compete on borrowed horses in Uni competitions I won't be needing the saddle and bridle bag (and that's what mum's big car is for when I compete my own horse!) so only need the one bag to carry as much stuff as possible (as already will have to carry body protector and whip plus probably a bag containing food!) and lugging that much stuff on the London Underground/trains isn't much fun!

Ah, the joys

I'd just go for a large sports holdall then, with boots wrapped in a cotton boot bag and a seperate hat bag (for protection), inside the holdall. Cheaper. More choice. Better colours

lol, I'm liking the better colours idea! Will have a look around for sports bags and see what I can find (ooo maybe one with wheels!) and see whether it will be more expensive to buy separate hat bag to put inside. Silly question perhaps, but I assume the hats bags are big enough for a GPA style hat with a peak rather than a jockey skull and silk? Just I remember when I was much younger having a hat and boot bag from Robinsons and my velvet hat would only justy fit in the hat compartment because of the peak on it and the zip ended up being stretched rather a lot!

Hi, ive got the shires SSL kit bag (different to the one you were looking at!) and i love it! theres room for your hat, long boots, jacket, jodhs and a couple of extra pockets left over. It has a shoulder strap that the other one doesnt and i think it comes in a couple of different colours. It is a bit more expensive than the others, but i think its worth paying a bit extra, it invaluable to me for shows now cos you can get everything in it and it keeps everything so seperate and organised! gosh this brings back memories...i used to compete at uni! i remember pedalling furiously to the stables at 6am to practice for our home comps on my bike with my bag precariously balanced on my back!

Thanks for that (the link you gave wouldn't work for me

but I searched for it on Amazon and found the bag I think you mean and it looks great. Nice size and has the shoulder strap too so think I might buy it..just need to pick the colour now!

Holdall if you want to put a body protector in it, also not so awkward to carry/hold on the tube. Roll up your jacket, put socks and whip down your boots, etc etc etc.

We have the kit bags, and they're good for moving stuff from house to lorry imo, but for what you've said, the holdall would suit better

Thanks for your idea - I'm tempted to agree! Does anyone know how long the holdall is (I can't find the dimensions of it listed anywhere

) and want to check that my long boots will actually fit in it before I buy it.
