What are KK bits? Why are they special? I'm asking because my new horse, (hooray!) is in one at the moment and I don't have a clue what it is like?

Anyone care to unravel my mystery?

They are expensive! They are made of a special mix of metals which is supposed to encourage salivation, and some have the lozenge angled at 45 degrees which is supposed to be more comfortable for the horse. If you google them you will probably find more info. They are made by Sprenger.

I love the way F goes in his. They are expensive - you sound lucky to have inherited one!

They come in all sorts of styles like normal bits. F's is a lozenge with loose rings but also had a full cheek lozenge one too. What is yours like?

Mine annoyingly isn't inherited! My new one is quite young though so I want to keep her in what she knows!

Her KK is a loose ring with a lozenge in it, same as yours!

Love them, Ralph has been in his for 2 years now, soft and supple, lovely. Worth every penny would buy another one for sure, was heart broken when we had a break in, thought my bridle had been stolen, left it behind
