What are peoples thoughts on how these differ? I changed mine from a french link to a KK, but find he tries to put his tongue over the KK and sometimes backs off it. Has anyone else found this? The KK is meant to be milder.

I recently changed from a loose ring french link to an egbutt lozenge hoping that it would be steadier and there would be less movement for my chopsy TB...but like you said she seems to try much harder to get her tongue over the bit (and suceeds much more often). I hate that when think 'oh i wonder why she's not accepting the bit and listening' you look down and see a huge pink tongue waggling around!!

The lozenges are ergonomically designed and any pressure is evenly distributed.

The FL link is set a little higher than the mouthpiece which is probably just enough to prevent cheeky horses putting their tongues over.

Is the tongue def over the bit? or is are they just mouthing something new do you think?

Yes definately over, sticking right out the mouth! I tried the RS dynamic first, then a normal KK. I have the Type 2 one now which he goes nicely in, but backs off it when jumping. I don't know why, but I have much more brakes with this one (it's the loose ring but has eggbutt edges. Possibly too much brakes...he likes jumping with a decent contact, with this one on a contact it backs him off.
Put him back in a french link full cheek and much better for jumping, but not so great on the flat. So, I'm thinking the fulmer version might be better (the one with the loose rings and full cheeks). He definately prefers loose rings but fleshy lips mean I have to use guards (which I hate). Gutting really, I thought the type 2 would be fantastic.
It is odd, you'd think a KK would be nicer!!

Ralph used to put his tongue over the bit with a french link, but I've not had any problems with my KK and found that he goes better in the KK.

My mare gets her tongue over anything if she wants! I ride in a KK and love it...but i have my flash on tight....she normally only messes around with her tongue when something hurts.....

I tried KK and 3 different types of neue scheule thinking i was doing the right thing by my boy. £200 and some months later we're back with our french link and he's much happier again. in retrospect I was looking for quick fix. also NS went green and bit rings rusted not sure how i did that !

Thanks. I would never use a neue schule again after seeing a friends one break in half. Think I'll invest in a fulmer french link. He obviously one that prefers the flat link over the lozenge!
