Knackered - 2 foals in 2 days! (Both early)

Can't wait to get some sleep tonight. After first foal arrived on Friday morning, 2 days on another foal is here - and it's another filly. This time another of our TB mares Zagala produced a real live wire - and considering again like the first one, it wasn't full term (maiden mare carried 319 days), she is certainly a character. She still had her back legs inside mum and was doing all she could to stand up and run. Within seconds she was up and had found the drinks bar herself. Our vet has been out to check her over and because of how early she is, she has to stay in for at least a couple of weeks, which in this weather, we don't mind. Strange thing is though, she has very similar markings to Friday mornings foal and they are not related in any way whatsoever. Last night was a very long night as the mare started getting uncomfortable just before midnight and finally gave birth at 7.20am. Here's a photo of todays filly.

Another gorgeous filly, and like everyone else has said, so very similar. But the main thing is that they are alive, healthy and doing well..

Thanks for all your kind words. Both babies doing very well and both mums equally as proud. Hopefully next foal won't come quite so early - she's due in just over two weeks time, but looking at her at the moment, she's got a way to go. Whoever has foals born this year - may we wish you all the best with them and wish everyone live and healthy foals.
