I recently bought some leather knee boots for my TB for road work, not sure how tight/loose they should be as never used them before. They have 2 buckles - one at the top and one at the bottom, dont want to restrict her movement - how tight should they be?
thanks - also are brushing boots good leg protection for xc jumps? made some home-made ones down our woods, although they are all knockable - no solid ones, would like to offer her some peotection for her thin legs.

for mine, i put the bottom buckle quite loose, as you dont want to restrict the movement of the knee bending. the top buckle is tight, not too tight so that its uncomfortable but tight enough so that they wont fall down! sorry im not very good at explaining!
brushing boots are fine i would say

Knee boots should be fitted snug round the top,as long as they dont slip over the knee when you push down on them they wont go anywhere, bottom strap can be fitted really loosely!
Brushing boots will be fine

Ive recently sold some leather knee boots on ebay. Agree- top should be snug, bottom like a throat lash ... thats what ive always been told anyway.

Top one should definitely be snug, but don't be surprised if you get back from your ride and they have slipped down from where you put them. I do mine up tight and they have always moved down slightly after some trotting on the road. As long as they don't move down lots and the important part would still protect the knee in the unfortunate even of a fall then I think that's ok.

I do the bottom one up on the loosest hole.

Brushing boots I would say are fine for your xc jumps, enjoy you lucky thing you! :-)

I use the westropp brushing and knee boot in one, the ones that are all neoprene not he ones with the hard shell, I had some of those and they kept turning. these ones are great and don't move. I used to use seperate knee boots until one slipped, my horse trod on the strap, he fell over and I fell off ! I didn't bounce when I landed in the ditch, he just stood there nibbling a tree !
