Knee boots

Any reason why travel knee boots can't be used for road work? The ones I have (was given them a year ago) are pretty much the same as a skeleton boot - sturdy leather cup for the patella itself, stitched onto very soft suede. They do have a bottom strap so I know they can't be used for fast work/jumping, but wondered if they'd be ok rather than buying others as they've never been used. In fact, other than the suede, they look exactly like the Jeffries skeleton.
 
Yes - that's exactly like what I'm describing and mine too are suede. The reason I asked was because I thought technically they were designed for travel, although I couldn't really see why I couldn't use them on the roads. Great - thanks guys.
