Knee boots?

Been thinking about getting Chico some knee boots to go out hacking in as most of our hacking is on roads and lanes.

However, looking at the design of the majority of them i am concerned that if he did in fact fall in them that the way they fasten up above and below the knee may compress his knee.

Has any one got any experience of knee boots etc and how they perform.

Have seen some that are brushing boots and knee boots combined, are these better??
 
I would always use knee boots that have both top and bottom straps. I have seen several horses that went down on the road wearing knee boots that didn't have the bottom strap,and they flipped up.

I have never used the brushing boot / knee boot combos, so can't comment on them

I have the westropp knee and brushing boots. They are great, i was worried about the the same things as you, if they weren't tight enough would they slip down or if they were on tight enough not to slip would they be uncomfortable. These ones have never slipped and they fasten the same place as brushing boots. Check e-bay for them, i got mine for £10 and they were almost new!
 
We struggled to find knee boots that fitted madam, bought a pair of westropp combined knee brushing boots and they are fantastic. I would never hack out on roads without knee boots, its just not worth the risk.
 
My mare wears the westropp knee brushing boots. They have saved her from a very nasty injury already, I wouldn't hack out without them.

however my voucher is £30 so they will only cost me £15 in reality (or atleast thats how i am going to justify their purchase!) :D:D:p
 
I use the Westropp knee and brushing boots every day as most of our riding is on roads and they are very slippery. I find them great except I had to doctor mine and trim the knee boot bit as they were a bit wide, been neoprene, it was easy. I use them 5 or 6 times a week (every time I ride), they are now starting to fray quite badly but I have had them for about 16 months so they have lasted ok. I don't like knee boots as I found if I do them tight enough to stop them falling down, they will rub or too loose and you lose them but maybe because I have used cheap knee boots, I don't know.
 
we use the westropp knee only boots on mums horse always when hacking. Once we get the fitting just right they don't slip (unless doing very fast work when they get taken off!), no runs and have lasted since we have had her (7 years now!)
