Does anyone have any recommendations for decent knee boots? I really want to get a pair for Ali after seeing what happened to a friends horse when he slipped on the road a week ago, his knees are in an absolutely dreadful state

The Westropp combined knee and brushing boots are really good. Although I'm not sure if I read somewhere that they have been discontinued.

It's scarey isn't it when you see a horse with broken knees. It happened to someone we know a few years ago. You could see the knee bone - but thankfully no fracture or break.

I have a pair of westrop knee boots and a pair of Jeffries leather knee boots.
Both are good but you have to get westrop knee boots off of e-bay as they no longer make them.

IMO you get what you pay for. I would go for some really good quality leather ones - they won't rub like synthetic ones (once you have got them suppled up), wear much better and will offer far supirior protection if the horse does fall on the road.

The Westropp ones have never rubbed ours, and they aren't leather. Have been really pleased with them, they wash well, come up like new every time.

I have a pair that look exactly like the jeffries skeleton knee boots but only cost £19.99. They are brill and are the only pair that have stayed up on my pony. I think they are made by 'Wyvern'.

the best ones are the solid type that are part of the cannon bone boot, if that makes sense. they can't rub behind the knee because there's no attachment there... they just stick up the front, a continuation of the front of the brushing boot. they're foam on the inside and rock-hard plastic on the outside, so very protective. i've got a pair to sell, actually, as i never hack out on icy/slippery roads any more, so if you're interested, PM me and i'll sort out a pic so you can see what they're like.

The very very best knee boots by far are from a website called www.mkdequestrian.co.uk or follow the link from the Rockwood Harriers website. They really are the best knee boots I have ever used and everyone I know really rates them very highly!

the thing is with my gelding is his knees arent knobbly and bony like the mares, so knee boots just slip down, however tight they are
