My beautiful but idiotic TB fell over on concrete, cutting his shoulder (stitches needed) and skinning his knee (no stitches required). Not a fun way to spend the bank holiday! The swelling seems to be going down nicely five days later, but I was wondering if any of you have suggestions about getting the hair growing back on his knee as he has skinned it good and proper (pictures below). It is dry with no oozing so I thought it might be a good time to start applying something - we were planning on doing ROR classes with him as he is such a handsome chap.

I use Megatek. It's fab stuff and really does work. My ROR horse is currently getting lathered in the stuff after rolling into a fence lol! I usually get it off of ebay.

Great thanks - is it something you rub on and do you need to bandage over it at all? How long is it taking for the hair to come back? Questions questions, sorry!

You just rub it in everyday and leave it on. no need for bandages and the likes it's just a lotion. On straight skin it takes about 2 weeks, on rug rubs about a week.

My mare skinned her knees a few years back and I used sudacream on them until they had healed and then MTG (which smells disgusting like bacon) and the hair grew back perfectly after a few weeks.

I use megatek for all things like this - my little fella has rubbed himself raw this morning so hibiscrubbed and applied megatek straight away.

MTG is an oil based product by shapely's not many stockists in the UK but it is very popular in the US.

Have looked both of these up and both seem good for hair regrowth, will they work when he has taken the top layer of skin off? Showing my lack of basic biology now, wasn't sure if the hair follicles had been damaged...
