KOD

You see Im confused because both the pics on the database show him with white socks Yet the 1st link shows a horse without?? So is this KOD & it is just not a clear photo, or is it a mistake? I have to say I think the most common photo of him is really unflattering & as I have said before I would never have used him. Glad people saw through all that, but just goes to show, beauty is as beauty does.

Exactly, but that photo is labelled KOD & all the others are correct, & it is The KOD's they are referring to. Oh well short of contacting them the mystery horse remains a mystery.

I had the honour of visiting Slyguff Stud some years ago and the late Loftus O Neill took me into his house. I saw a painting of the King and also a photo. He was NOT pretty so finding an attractive photo might be difficult! However 'hansome is as handsome does'. What a star he was!

King of Diamonds was typical of the ID horses of that era - very much "handsome is as handsome does"! There's a great story that I was told by Jack Murphy, the owner of Golden River, about the dam of Kidalton Countess (dam to Diamond Lad) - Enniskeane Countess, who was supposed to be a fantastic jumper. Apparently she was expected to do her work on the farm, and then if they had a show, she would be "hopped" up onto a cattle trailer, towed off to the show, would jump a mighty round, hop back on to the trailer (no ramp!), and be towed home ..... Ah they don't make them like that any more!!!!

There's a nice painting of him on the cover. I would post it on here but I'm not sure of copyright. There are no more pictures inside, it's just text.
